Pretend Toys
I became interested in child development and pretend toys once my daughter was born (not surprisingly!).
As I sit and watch my daughter over the course of the day, it's clear to me that make believe and pretending form a huge part of her day. You have no idea the number of times I have had to be a customer for her "ice cream" shop!
Pretending is a wonderful way for children to learn about themselves and their environment. It's also a wonderful way of increasing their imagination and creativity. Children can pretend with the most basic of items - how many times have you seen your child get more entertainment from the box that a toy came in?
Having said that, good quality, carefully selected pretend toys can enhance your child's learning experience and development. Provide your child with age-appropriate pretend toys and props that will stimulate new, individual interests for them.
